Thoughtful support, clear direction, and room to be human.
Hi, I’m Shayna.
I created SkyBox Therapy to offer a space where people can feel genuinely supported while also doing focused, intentional work toward change.
I know therapy can ask a lot of you. Sometimes it means talking about things you’d rather avoid. Sometimes it means trying something unfamiliar, sitting with uncertainty, or continuing through a part of the process that feels messier than you expected.
My role isn’t to rush you through that work or expect you to have everything figured out before you begin.
I bring structure and genuine care to our sessions — meeting you where you are, listening closely, and moving at a pace that respects your starting point while gently encouraging you to stretch beyond your comfort zone when you’re ready.
Today, my work primarily focuses on helping teens ages 13+ and adults navigate OCD, anxiety-related disorders, and trauma, using specialized approaches including ERP and EMDR.
My path to this work
Every experience has shaped how I approach therapy today.
My path into the mental health field began at California Baptist University, where I studied from 2019 to 2022. I began seeing clients in 2021, gaining some of my earliest clinical experience in a school district setting.
After graduating, much of my work continued to center around adolescents.
I worked with young people in juvenile residential programs, adolescent refugees from a range of countries, and youth referred through Los Angeles and Riverside County social services.
Working alongside clients with very different backgrounds, experiences, and needs taught me early on that there is no single path to healing.
What helps one person may not be what another person needs. Progress can look different from client to client, and good therapy requires both a strong clinical foundation and a willingness to stay curious about the person in front of you.
From there, I transitioned into private practice, where I continued working with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns while expanding my training and therapeutic toolkit.
Over time, that work led me toward the areas I specialize in today: OCD, anxiety-related disorders, and trauma.

Specialized Training
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) training
EMDR basic training, with continued work toward full EMDR certification
Dr. Daniel Amen’s Elite Brain Health Clinician certification
Introductory neurofeedback training
Continued education related to OCD, anxiety, trauma, brain health, and complementary therapeutic approaches
My ongoing training allows me to remain grounded in established therapeutic methods while continuing to explore additional ways to support each client as an individual.
I believe clients deserve a therapist who continues learning rather than relying only on what they learned earlier in their career.
My practice is grounded in evidence-based treatment, and I regularly pursue additional training and education so I can thoughtfully bring new tools, knowledge, and perspectives into our work when they are genuinely useful.

What’s it like to work with me?
Compassion matters. So does having a plan.
Therapy should feel supportive, but I also believe it should have direction.
You deserve to understand what we’re working on, why we’re approaching it a certain way, and how the work connects back to the life you want outside of therapy.
These principles guide the way I work:
Openness & Receptiveness
You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out.
We can begin with what you know right now and build from there. What matters is a willingness to be open to the process and curious about what change could look like.
Presence & Pace
I listen first.
Your experiences, concerns, and goals help shape the direction of therapy and move at a pace that respects where you’re beginning.
Courage to Grow
Therapy sometimes means stepping outside your comfort zone.
That may involve approaching a fear differently, tolerating uncertainty, processing something difficult, or practicing a new response. I’ll encourage those steps thoughtfully and gradually.
Grace in the Messy Middle
Progress isn’t always a straight line.
There may be times when you can clearly see how far you’ve come and others when the work feels harder again. Those moments don’t erase your progress.
Part of therapy is learning how to keep going, even on the days that feel like setbacks.
Structure & Accountability
I don’t want you to leave therapy wondering what we’re doing or whether anything is changing.
Education, practical tools, clear treatment goals, and thoughtful progress tracking can give the work structure — helping us see what is improving, what still needs attention, and where we go next.
A broader view of support
Evidence-based treatment with room to look at the whole picture.
While my primary focus is psychological treatment, I approach care with a whole-person perspective.
Depending on your needs, I may incorporate psychoeducation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EFT/tapping, and other appropriate tools alongside specialized treatment such as ERP or EMDR.
Mental health symptoms are often influenced by factors outside the scope of therapy —I welcome these conversations as part of a broader understanding of your well-being and will gladly refer you to the right professional(s) when support falls outside of my expertise.
I’m naturally curious and a lifelong learner. When something I learn through continued training can meaningfully support our work together, I want to bring that knowledge into the room in a thoughtful, responsible way.
You don’t have to know if I am the right therapist yet
That’s what the first conversation is for.
Finding a therapist is personal.
Credentials and treatment approaches matter, but so does feeling like you can be open with the person sitting across from you.
SkyBox Therapy offers a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions, briefly tell me what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether my approach feels like a good fit before committing to ongoing therapy.
There’s no expectation that you arrive with the right words or know exactly which treatment you need.
We can start there together.
